POLICE are reporting that the Cross Roads police station was attacked by a band of thugs early this morning.
The cops say about ten men armed with assault rifles and handguns attacked the station about 3:30 am. The attack lasted for about 10 minutes but no police officer was injured.
This is the second time in two years that the Cross Roads Police station has been attacked by armed thugs. In January 2008 armed thugs peppered the station with bullets and murdered District Constable Canute Brown.
The thugs were angered that police had cut down the brother of reputed Tivoli Gardens don, Christopher 'Chris Royal' Coke and a man identified only as 'Jello' and launched an assault against the security forces which ended with three cops being killed and another shot and injured.
Police also reported that the civil unrest had spread to the old capital of Spanish Town in St Catherine as thugs have blocked the road in the vicinity of Brunswick Avenue.
