HANOVER, Jamaica — A police sergeant is among three men who were yesterday arrested following the seizure of approximately 2000 pounds of compressed ganja on the Old Green Island main road in Hanover.

Reports are that a targeted anti- narcotics operation was being conducted in the area when the driver of a truck was stopped and the drugs allegedly found about 8:30 am.

The police said three men -- a police sergeant, a businessman and a farmer, all of Westmoreland addresses -- were in the truck at the time and were taken into custody.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
