Cops kill three men in Back Bush

Residents cry murder

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

IRATE residents of a community known as 'Back Bush' in Mountain View, St Andrew are claiming that the police killed three of their own in cold blood today.

The residents identified the dead men as cousins Geovani Nunes and Jamie Fisher; and Ian Gordon, all of whom were in their early twenties.

They incident happened about midday.

According to Nunes’ girlfriend she and Fisher were in the house when police knocked on the door and demanded that they be let in.

“I was the one that opened the door and they (police) asked them who they were before they pushed me out of the house,” the woman said.

“As they pushed me out I heard the gunshots and I turned around to see Geovani on the ground. After that I heard another shot fire and then I just ran off,” she continued.

Another resident — who said he watched the officers through a window in his house — said some of the cops then dragged the cousins’ bodies outside their house, while others questioned Gordon who was purchasing items at a neighbouring shop.

He pleaded with them to spare his life, the shopkeeper said.

“They shot him in his feet first, and all along he was there begging them not to kill him; he even reached into his pocket for his ID,” the woman said.

“That never helped; them still pull him out of the place and shoot him in his head,” she lamented, adding that Gordon was not from the area, and that he only went there to visit his two daughters.

However the police say they were in the area searching for gunmen who were suspected of involvement in Monday's murder of two cops and the injury of six others, when they were challenged by gunmen.

The cops say they returned the fire and the three were found dead.

There is no report of firearms being seized.

The Bureau of Special Investigations in probing the deaths of the three men.

Same old story line "the Police were attacked by gun men and they returned the fire...... and three men were killed" The Police MUST recognise that the Limited State of Emergency does NOT give them a license to perpetuate state terrorism.
The circumstances surrounding this case has a stench of vindictiveness for the eight cops shot on Monday night, two of whom died. This need some independence in investigation from an oversight authority, or crimes like these will be replicated ALL over town

Street Justice in Jamaica is the only justice. Just look at the video called Trench Town on youtube. They willing accept shot in their foot from the Don. IN these situations the perpetrators are "served up" to the Police to ease off the pressure on the community.

Police just don't knock on somebody door who they knew is a law abiding citizen and gun them down. Why is it the women who are always witnessing so-called police brutality not matter if it is broad daylight or pitch black midnight? And, when bad man killed police in a broad daylight nobody no see nutten?

Readers. There are officers that live, sleep, etc 24hrs a day in these garrisons. Hence, there is intelligence garnered on these men activities and many times these "shoot-outs" are just a means to prevent carnage that is being planned on the civil society. These men are not stupid. They do not travel with guns in daylight but at nightfall their bad deeds are done. Would you rather we leave them alone or do we "remove" the threat?

I believe the police knew who they were and I also believe they threathened the police. There are other reports that they, the gunmen, had guns. Don't forget the police know who these people are; the police are on the street everyday and know all of them on sight.
I will not cry for them; they are murderers. Too bad the perception gets confused with the reality. They lie like hell. They deserve what they get.

This is a little bit disturbing....I can only hope that the police themselves don't think that they're above the law by going around killing people. Did they have any proof that these men were involved? Did they do any investigation? I am all for them getting this situation under control but they have to come out of the shoot first ask questions later mentality. Too many innocent people have already been lost.

My advise to citizens of Jamaica. when act of brutality is committed by members of the security force. video the act for it will be your only defence or evidence in a corrupt country as Jamaica.

I also feel this is a reprisal for the killing of those cops in Mountainview. We want the criminals to but how are the police any better if they trample on the rights on innocent citizens.

Right now me support the police dem.
A lot of people who post against the police here have crimminals and murderers in you family. Everybody and the police dem know who are the crimminals in the community. Jamaica to small fe hide.

So what about the policemen and Soldiers who were killed, wasnt that in cold blood, who is bawling for them. What about their wives and children, what about the women and children who was killed in McCooks Pen simply because they tried to cross a roadblock put up by thugs, who is crying for them. What about Jamaica's reputation that is in tatters around the world who is crying for Jamaica. Everyone knows that the boys from backBush and those from Tivoli are the same, clean them up officers.

It is going to take some time to investigate if what some of these witnesses claim really happen. And although I am sure some of the dead and injured are actually real victims; with the amount of gunmen in Jamaica the task is going to be a big one. I could not believe how many women were standing around looking at police and criminal fight it out a couple of day ago, it would appear that they are so familiar with guns or men with guns that they could not careless.

We have eyewitnesses to every police killings but when gunmen come around no one saw anything.
I suggest to all and sundry 80% of these people are liars and criminals. They are beneficiaries of criminal activities.
Take them out one at a time and early!! Probably the same ones who robbed me of my last possession on Mountain View 2 years ago.

How come the Gleaner reports that two guns were seized at this incident?

5/26/2010
I'm confused by these stories. Someone is lying. I would plead with the police not to squander the goodwill gained from their lawful actions elsewhere. Nonotheless, I have to view things with suspicion since the women are known to protect their gunmen and tell lie pon police.

NO GUNS RECOVERED
This has becoming the trend in police "shoot outs" - ten dead 1 gun recovered, 3 dead no guns recovered, 44 dead in tivoli 4 guns recovered. Police need to bring the ratio of bodies to gun a little closer.

This killing is just in rataliation for the police officers that were killed on Mountian view avenue on Monday. We CANNOT this wholesale killing of civilians. We are not going to support that either, we not accepting it from criminals and we are certainly not going to accept it from the police. Come on man, don't murder innocent people like that, they are human beings too. I DON'T beleive the cop's story.

I believe these witnesses. IT seems the pills these policemen take are getting to their heads!
This is looking like a police-reprisal killing...for the death of their colleague

Have the police gone mad? They have gotten so much goodwill over the past few days regarding the insurgency in Tivoli Gardens. Are they so hungry for revenge or are they plain murderous themselves? Two totally different accounts of the incident. Something is awry here. I do support their actions in Tivoli, but if this is true, those policemen who were involved in this madness must be brought to justice!

Good Job, well done member of the security forces. Keep safe and communities like back bush should be cleaned up. What has happen to our beautiful country? I say to the police and soldiers kill all the thugs, until our county is safe again.

It grieves me that these persons will only start making noise when one of their own is killed...they don't give a moment's consideration to the 2 police men whose lives were snuffed out by members of their community, and the other 6 who were shot! They support and defend criminals and some of them even participate in the crimes themselves. As the saying goes, lie down with dogs and your bound to catch fleas!

In the name of God how can the citizens of Jamaica have respect and trust for law enforcement if they the cops treat citizens in this manner. Respect has to begin a the top with all law enforcement officials before citizens can start trusting them. Do to the circumstances that has taken place in Kingston over the resent days law enforcement officials must reevaluate how they handle and deal with citizens when enforcing the laws of Jamaica. The rights of all citizens must be respected regardless of the situation at hand and also law enforcement can't go around as judge and jury because they are under extreme pressure and stress.

I support the security forces in the Tivoli operations and think they were getting some goodwill from Jamaicans, but incidents like these mar their image.
.
I understand that they are angry about the death of their colleague, but we have to get away from these kind of extra-judicial killings. If these guys are suspects, bring them in.
.
We need to have a police service that truly respects human rights. We can't make one step forward and two steps backward.
.
I believe these people.
