LONDON, England – Jamaica’s Alphanso Cunningham failed to add to his javelin gold medal won two days ago after he finished fourth in the men’s discus throw F51/52/53 at Olympic stadium in Stratford, east London this morning, failing to improve on his position after the first round.

Cunningham, who threw fifth in the finals, managed just 23.41m, a foul, and then 24.62m on his final throw after a season’s best 24.68m for 835 points earlier.

The Athens Paralympic Games discus gold medalist was the best placed F53 thrower on the day as the three athletes finishing ahead of him were in lower classification.

A lot was expected from Cunningham after solid training sessions for the last month after the team got to a training camp in Bedford in East Anglia.

Jamaica’s competition schedule will end later this evening when seven times Paralympian Sylvia Grant goes after her seventh medal at this level in the women’s’ javelin throw F57/58 starting at 7:00pm UK time (1:00pm Jamaica time).
