Deacon remanded on incest charges

ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC) — A magistrate has remanded into custody a Guyana-born deacon who is accused of having sex with his teenage daughter in a car earlier this month.

Police said they spotted the unidentified deacon and his daughter in a vehicle on January 17 and on questioning her, she admitted that she had engaged in a sexual act.

The 46-year-old deacon has been slapped with four counts of incest and when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh on Monday.

His attorney Charlesworth Browne had applied for bail, but was told that he should make an application before a judge in the High Court.
