Demonstration forces closure of roads in Swallowfield area — police

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A demonstration being staged by residents of the Swallowfield area of Old Hope Road in St Andrew following the shooting of a teenager last night has forced the police to issue an advisory to motorists to currently avoid the area.

The roadways to avoid are Old Hope Road in the vicinity of Swallowfield, Windsor Avenue, and Arthur Wint Drive.

Motorists are being advised to divert on to Lady Musgrave Road.

The teen, Cee-Jay Lake, was fatally shot by the police on Providence Pen Lane off Old Hope Road about 8:15 pm last night, the police's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) reported.

According to the CCU, a homemade firearm and one .38 round of ammunition was seized in the incident.
