KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness a short while ago declared that the second zone of special operations (ZOSO) will be in Denham Town, Kingston.

Holness made the announcement while speaking at a press conference, underway at Jamaica House, to update the country on the government's crime initiative.

According to Holness, Denham Town met the first order criteria of ongoing gang warfare; rampant criminality; escalating violence and murder; and proved to be a threat to rule of law; to be declared a zone.

Holness noted that while there are other communities that meet the first order criteria, Denham Town was selected for a “strategic” reason, which he did not disclose.

“In this phase, residents can expect to encounter checkpoints, cordon and searches, curfew, targeted operations and residents should be prepared to provide identifications,” said Holness.
