Dispute downtown Kingston leads to firearm seizure

KINGSTON, Jamaica - A dispute at West Street, Kingston this morning left one man injured and on the run, and led to the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition.

Reports from the Kingston Central Police are that about 9:00 am, a dispute developed between two men, during which one of them allegedly pulled a firearm and fired at the other. The man who was shot at was not hurt, but he reportedly retaliated by using a machete to chop the man armed with the gun.

A Police patrol team passing through the community was alerted by residents.. A subsequent search of the area led to the seizure of a Tangfolio 9mm pistol and six 9mm rounds.

The injured man, who had allegedly had the firearm, fled the scene. The other man is to be questioned by the Kingston Central Police.
