KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC) is advising that a number of its systems in some eastern parishes are currently out of operation.

This, the NWC says, is as a result of problems associated with internal electrical issues, turbidity and broken mains. 

The affected systems in St Catherine include Dinthill Well, Lluidasvale Well, Goldmine Treatment Plant, Cocoa Ridge Relift station and Green Acres Well. 

The company added that the Grants Level, Turtle Crawl and Windsor Forrest systems in Portland, Pembroke Hall Pumping Station, Annotto Bay Treatment Plant, Hunts Town and Industry Pen in St Mary as well as the Drummond Spring, Aneon Town, Peace River, New Ground, Longville Park and Goshen water supply facilities in Clarendon are also out of operation.

Consequently, customers served by these systems are without usual piped water supply.  

According to the NWC every effort is being made to resume normal operations of these systems and restore water to the affected customers at the earliest time possible.
