FALMOUTH, Trelawny — A retired policeman was shot dead by unknown assailants at a Cashpot outlet where he was employed as a security guard in Falmouth,Trelawny yesterday evening.

The deceased has been identified as 78-year-old Albert Mowatt, also called Shoey of a Trelawny address.

Reports are that about 7:30 pm Mowatt was pounced upon and gunned down by armed assailants who entered the gaming facility along Market Street, Falmouth.

He died on the spot.

It is not clear if the gunmen escaped with any cash but speculation is rife that they made off with Mowatt's licensed firearm.

More information later.
