Excelsior, Exced exams moved

THE Overseas Examinations Commission (OEC), while advising that all today's examinations (CXC, GCE and University of London) will be held as time-tabled, has added Excelsior High and Exced Community College to the list of schools whose students whose will be sitting their exams elsewhere.

Because of the violence in downtown Kingston and other areas of the capital, students having difficulties reaching the following examination centres should go to the Overseas Examinations Commission, using the Manhattan Road entrance (cross from the entrance to the National Water Commission on Marescaux Road):

• Camperdown High

• Holy Trinity High

• Kingston College

• Kingston Technical High

• St. Andrew Technical High

• Vauxhall High

Students of those schools who manage to reach the schools should stay put and the OEC will administer the examinations at those locations. Candidates from Portmore who attend those schools are asked to go to any of the following schools in Portmore:

• Ascot High

• Bridgeport High

• Cumberland High

• Waterford High

All students of Excelsior High and Exced Community College sitting CSEC or CAPE subjects today are asked to report to Holy Childhood High School.

All students of St George's College will write their examinations at Ardenne High School.

As a general rule if students cannot reach their examination centres they are to go to the nearest centre in uniform, with their timetable and with identification and they will be allowed to sit their examinations.

School officials and Examination Supervisors should make every effort to be available to facilitate the smooth running of the examinations.

The OESC is remaining in contact with police to monitor the situation.Related stories:

@ Stephen. Ridiculous indeed. No one with an ounce of sense to be proactive at any level in Jamaica.

This is ridiculous, labour day activities are cancelled because of the violence in the communities but children must leave there house to go take an exam. Do the head of the examination bodies have any sense. They are a bunch of idiots.
If one child gets hurt all blame will be on OEC, I hope they will be prepared for the backlash.

Is CXC so inflexible that EXAMs CANNOT be rescheduled in the interest of the safety of the students? What the hell are students doing on the roads under the current circumstances trying to get to and from exams?
