KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica has issued a flash flood watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Westmoreland, Hanover St James, Trelawny and St Elizabeth effective until 5:00 am tomorrow.

The Met Service says a trough across the western Caribbean continues to produce unstable weather conditions west of the island.

Although the forecast is for generally partly cloudy and windy conditions across eastern and central parishes, the Met service said light to moderate and at times heavy showers and isolated thundershowers are still likely across western sections of the island on Tuesday.

Flash flooding is therefore a possibility over low-lying and flood-prone areas of the western parishes.

A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed through further releases from the Met Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.
