Ganja seized in Spanish Town, one man charged

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The police have arrested and charged a man for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act following the seizure of a quantity of ganja at a premises in Cocoa Ridge, Spanish Town, St Catherine last Friday.

Charged with dealing in ganja and illegal possession of ganja is 50-year-old Maxie Thompson of Cocoa Ridge in St Catherine.

Reports are that between the hours of 5:00 am and 8:00 am, a team of officers conducted a series of operations at four premises where a total of 125 pounds of ganja was discovered.

Twenty-five pounds of the drug was found at Thompson's residence. He is to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court on January 30, 2018.

Investigations continue.
