ST JAMES, Jamaica — Commuters including students and people on their way to work had to sit in traffic for long hours after a truck transporting cooking gas caught fire along the busy Rose Rose Hall main road in St James this morning.

Preliminary reports are that the driver disembarked from the unit after it developed mechanical problems along the highway.

The vehicle reportedly burst into flames before help could reach him. The police said he was seriously injured in the incident.

Firefighters are now on the scene battling the blaze.
