Girl burnt in Port Royal still unidentified
Thursday, October 18, 2012 | 1:45 PM
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Close to 24 hours after firemen made the gruesome discovery of the partially burnt body of a female child along the Port Royal road no one has identified the girl.
"We are yet to identify the child and at this time we are calling out to anyone with information to contact the police," said Hornet Williams, Deputy Superintendent of police investigating the matter.
The police believe the girl, who they estimate to be about 14-years-old, was raped, killed and her nude body dumped and set alight in a bid to destroy evidence. The body was found wrapped in a tarpaulin with hands bound and a cord around the neck.
Royal police said today they have stepped up their search for person/s involved in the barbaric act.
The body, which was in the nude, is of light complexion, slim build and about 157 centimetres (5-feet-2 inches) long. She is said to be wearing acrylic nails and her toenails painted red.
