Gov't talks with China Harbour to dam Bog Walk Gorge

KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Minister of Transport and Works Dr Omar Davies will sign a MOU with China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) to study the feasibility of damming the Bog Walk Gorge in St Catherine to provide a reservoir for the supply of potable water and electricity generation.

The MOU will be signed Friday, March 28 among the Ministry of Transport, Works & Housing; the Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy & Mining; Ministry of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change;  and CHEC. 

According to the Works Ministry the damming of the gorge is one of the projects that CHEC is exploring to assess the possibility of expanding the island’s water supply and the provision of hydro electric power.
