Grange presents Shelton with $5m towards medical care

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Keeping true to a commitment she gave on October 12, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, has presented Jamaican footballer, Luton Shelton with a cheque for J$5 million from the Sports Development Foundation towards his medical care.

Shelton was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.

The presentation was made during the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) game between Harbour View and Mount Pleasant last night at the Harbour View Stadium.

Shelton was a member of the Harbour View football team.
