BELMOPAN, Belize (CMC’) — Police were yesterday searching for the gunmen who fired several shots at the home of former prime minister Said Musa Tuesday night.
Police Press Officer Raphael Martinez said that Musa and family were safe and unhurt and that several shots had been fired at the house in Belize City around 10:00 pm (local time).
“A total of five nine millimetre expended shells were recovered from the scene,” a police statement said, adding that “the front door and the glass on the rear passenger door of a vehicle in the yard” were damaged.
Musa served as prime minister of the country from 1998 to 2008.
Last week, senior police officers and journalists were forced to seek cover after gunshots were fired near an apartment building where the bodies of four men had been found.
