Haiti, DomRep sign MoU on air service relations

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (CMC) — The Dominican Republic and Haiti have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on air services between the two countries, establishing the legal framework that will govern their future bilateral air services relations

Director General of the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC) Olivier Jean, and Luis Ernesto Camilo the President of the “Junta de Aviación Civil” of the Dominican Republic (JAC) signed the MoU here after two working meetings.

Camilo described the agreement as “historic” saying it strengthens the bilateral relations necessary to regulate air transport and providing opportunities for investments in tourism and trade.

Jean, who was accompanied by his legal advisor, Aysha Flambert, and Phillipe Bayard, the director of the Haitian company “Sunrise Airways” said that cordiality and openness prevailed throughout the negotiation process.

Prior to the signing, the Haitian delegation met with Foreign Affairs Minister Miguel Vargas Maldonado, who described the MOU as “an important step forward in bilateral relations between the two countries”.
