KINGSTON, Jamaica — People's National Party's (PNP) spokesperson on foreign affairs and foreign trade, Lisa Hanna a short while ago issued an apology, acknowledging that a release, mourning the death of a St Lucian diplomat in the Las Vegasmassacre, was inadvertently sent today with unverified information from her office.

In her statement, Hanna said the release that was dispatched had been withdrawn once the information from usual reliable sources could not be corroborated and proved incorrect.

The statement attributed to Hanna was issued by the Opposition People's National Party (PNP) hours after St Lucia's Ambassador to the Organisation of American States Anton Edmunds rubbished the fake news in a post on his Facebook page.

Shortly after the erroneous release,Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith issued a statement countering Hanna's information and cautioning the Opposition spokesperson on fake news.
