MANDEVILLE, Manchester - Investigators from the Mandeville branch of Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) have started a probe into the shooting death of a man by police here yesterday.

Dead is Dwayne Anthony Reid, 31, of a Manchester address.

Reports are that cops were on patrol in the town in a marked vehicle about 2:30 pm when they spotted Reid at Caledonia Courts on Caledonia Road.

Upon seeing the police, Reid, who is said to have been wanted by the police, reportedly ran into a white Toyota Corolla motor car, pulled a firearm, and started shooting.

The police say they returned the fire and he sped off and crashed along the roadway.

He was reportedly found suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the Mandeville Regional Hospital.
