KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica should expect increase rainfall over the weekend as a broad area of low pressure drifting slowly northward over the eastern Yucatan Peninsula continues to become better organised, according to the Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica.

The Met Service said that although the primary area of showers and thunderstorms from this system is expected to remain over the waters of the northwestern Caribbean Sea, the associated activity is likely to result in increased rainfall across Jamaica.

With this periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, across sections of most parishes, from Saturday through to Monday should be expected.

The Meteorological Service said it will continue to monitor the situation.
