KINGSTON, Jamaica — Industrial action by tellers at a Scotiabank branch in Ocho Rios, St Ann this afternoon resulted in disruption of services to customers for about 20 minutes.

News of the disruption came to light after OBSERVER ONLINE this evening received a video recording from a customer who turned up the branch but found no teller to attend to customers.

In the 44-second video clip, a man can be heard saying, “hey guys this is Scotiabank at 2:42 in Ocho Rios and as you can see there is not one teller in sight in here and it's been like this for the last 15 minutes and these are the queues in here”.

After checks with the bank, an email from Manager of Public and Corporate Affairs, Hope McMillan-Canaan said, “Scotiabank wishes to advise that there were some irregularities in the Ocho Rios branch today due to action by some of our staff.”

She added that the disruption lasted for approximately 20 minutes.

“At this time we are unable to provide any further insight due to active negations with our unions,” McMillan-Canaan said while apologising to customers.
