KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association (JGRA) is urging the energy ministry to fast track the process for compensating motorists who presented claims related to the “bad gas saga”.

JGRA, in a statement today, said motorists are yet to receive compensation, even though claims have been submitted to prove that their motor vehicles were damaged by the contaminated gas.

The Petroleum Trade Reform Committee, which was commissioned in early 2016 to investigate the bad gas saga, made intensive investigations, however the report was inconclusive; as no pointed evidence could be established as to who was at fault, the association said.

It urged the energy ministry to bring the matter to a close by finding a way to compensate the affected motorists as a goodwill gesture and in the interest of the motoring public.
