KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness today announced that his Administration is designing a social housing programme valued at $500 million to house the country's 'poor' people.

Holness, who was addressing Labourites at the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) 75th annual conference at the National Arena in Kingston, said the housing project will be a part of the Housing, Opportunity, Production and Employment (HOPE) Programme, where youth will be trained and afforded the responsible for building the houses for the poor.

Holness said regardless of occupation, (whether janitor, groundsman, etc), people will be able to make their contributions under this programme.

The prime minister said more information will be disclosed in the budget debate next year.
