JPS toll-free line repaired, working to restore power

Sunday, August 26, 2012 | 4:10 PM

KINGSTON, Jamaica - The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says it is currently working to restore power to several communities that have been affected by power outages since last night as a result of the adverse weather conditions affecting the island.

Some sections of the power delivery system were affected by the severe lightning storm, along with the several hours of heavy rain, the JPS said. The company added that there are several instances of trees falling on power lines due to landslides.

In the meantime the JPS has reported that its toll- free line (1-888-CallJPS/1-888-225-5577) is now fixed as the company continues to work on outages.
