Jamaica/USA clash gets underway this afternoon

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The long-awaited showdown between the Jamaican and American female sprinters gets underway at 1:05pm today.

Preliminary rounds, run by athletes who have not achieved the A or B standards of 11.29 and 11.38 seconds respectively but who have been invited by the International Olympic Association to compete, are underway.

Later today Jamaica will be represented by reigning 100m Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown and Kerron Stewart.
