A three timer by Jaheel Hyde propelled Jamaica's Under-17s to a 5-0 whipping of Bermuda in their opening Group 1 Caribbean Football Union qualifier at the Waterhouse Mini-Stadium.

Hyde, the son of local football icon, Lenworth Hyde, netted in the 15th, 28th and 60th minutes while US-based Michael Seaton of DC United scored twice in the 51st and 70th minute before being substituted three minutes later.

Jamaica, as expected, jumped to the top of the three-team group with three points. Bermuda are pointless and will play Antigua and Barbuda tomorrow at the Waterhouse Stadium starting at 6:00 pm.

Jamaica, on a mission to qualify back-to-back in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, were clearly the better team and could have won by a much wider margin.

Wolmer's Boys' prodigy, Hyde, starting at left midfield opened the scoring with a brilliant 35m effort after the goalkeeper's clearance fell to him.

He doubled Jamaica's advantage in the 28th minute, skipping by two defenders and calmly slotting home and grabbed his thrird from a 30 metre free kick which eluded everyone and nestled into the side of the goal in the 60th minute.

Seaton, notched his first goal after latching onto a Junior Flemmings pass and fired past the advancing goalkeeper. He got his second, nodding home from close range.

Jamaica will be in action again on Sunday when they play Antigua and Barbuda at 7:00 pm at the Waterhouse Stadium.
