PORTLAND, Jamaica — Builders Depot, a hardware store at Bryan's Bay, west of Port Antonio in Portland, is a complete loss after fire broke out inside the building about 1:30 this morning.

A crew from the Port Antonio Fire Department responded but had to seek help from Buff Bay, as the operation was hampered due to lack of water in the town.

The fire fightersresorted to pumping water from the sea in an attempt to extinguish the blaze, but this failed.

It took two units to get the fire under control. At the time of writing, smoke was still emanating from the building.

More information later.
