TRELAWNY, Jamaica — A Trelawny man was shot and injured by gunmen in his community after the body of a female salesperson was found in his house at Hague Settlement yesterday.
The police discovered the woman’s body wrapped in a sheet under a bed at the house occupied by the suspect.
Unconfirmed reports are that the woman and a male colleague, both employed to a Montego Bay business establishment, entered the community sometime yesterday and went in different directions seeking to peddle their wares.
The man became alarmed when he tried unsuccessfully to get his colleague on the phone. He then called the police.
The woman’s body was subsequently found in a house in the community, but the occupant of the premises could not be found. It is believed that the saleswoman was lured into the house where she was raped and killed.
While crime scene investigators were processing the scene last night, a volley of shots rang out in a hilly section of the community.
The police went to investigate and the male householder was found suffering from gunshot wounds.
The Falmouth police are investigating.
