A man implicated in the robbery of a motorcar last June was on Tuesday offered $150,000 bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.

The accused, Christopher Mayne of Kintyre in St Andrew, was offered bail by Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey on a charge of larceny of a motor vehicle.

According to police reports, on June 28 last year the complainant parked his car, a 1992 Sunny Nissan, near Emancipation Park in New Kingston and about 45 minutes later found that it was missing.

The car was subsequently reported stolen. However, on February 13 this year, the complainant’s father — who is the owner of the car — was reportedly driving in Allman Town in Kingston when he spotted his car which had a different licence plate number.

The police were summoned and the car was seized. Following an investigation Mayne, was charged.

He is to return to court on March 28.
