REMAR Spence, who was arrested for clouting his landlady in her eye with a padlock, was offered $50,000 bail with surety when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Spence is facing charges of assault occasioning bodily harm.

The police report that Spence used a padlock to hit his land lady in the right eye. The court was told that Spence, who has been living at the residence for about three months, has yet to turn over his keys, and he has cut additional keys and issued them to his friends.

Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey, who presided over the matter, said the cutting of the extra keys should not be an issue.

"As far as I see, that matter can be easily solved, get another lock, one trip to Rapid True Value," she said.

The case will again be mentioned on March 6.
