Man held with firearm, charged with robbery

ST ANDREW, Jamaica — A man who was held with an illegal firearm on Hope Road, St Andrew on Monday, November 4 has now been charged in relation to a case of robbery with aggravation.

He is 23-year-old Lenado Jarrett of Landlease, Papine in Kingston 6.

Police reports are that a team of officers were on patrol in the area about 6:30 pm when they saw a man acting suspiciously. The man was accosted and searched and a Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing seven 9mm rounds of ammunition was taken from him.

He was taken into custody and during subsequent investigations he was fingered as a suspect in the case of robbery with aggravation, which took place just minutes before he was accosted by the police.

Jarrett was placed on an identification parade, where he was pointed out by the complainant, the police said.
