Man held with firearm in Westmoreland

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — A man was arrested in connection with the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in Belvedere, Westmoreland this morning.

The police said his identity is being withheld as he has not been formally charged.

Reports from the Bethel Town police are that a police team was on patrol about 9:30 am, when they observed a man, who aroused their suspicion, in an unfinished building.

They reportedly accosted him, searched him and found a Browning 9mm Pistol and eighteen 9mm rounds in a knapsack that he was carrying.
