MANCHESTER, Jamaica — There was chaos in Mandeville today as taxi operators blocked sections of the business centre with their parked vehicles for several hours in protest against what they said was unfair treatment and excesses by the police.

Taxi operators, who say they are licensed to operate on Caledonia Road, complained that they were being harassed by police officers when they traverse that road in the vicinity of the hospital.

They were particularly upset with one police officer, with some demonstrators insisting that he be removed.

More information later.
