Men arrested for uttering forged cheques

THE Westmoreland Police have arrested and charged two men for uttering forged cheques.

They have been identified as 22-year-old Derron Meyler of Strathbogie, Westmoreland and 22-year-old Clifton Allen of Chantilly Gardens also in the parish.

Police eport that between December 17, last year and January 5, the cheques belonging to a high school in the parish were stolen. The cheques were tendered at several locations in Westmoreland and the men subsequently arrested. They have since been taken before the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate’s Court and were offered bail. The men are to reappear in court on Friday, March 9.

The Police are advising members of the public to be on the lookout for RBC Royal Bank cheques bearing serial numbers: 5018896 – 5018901, 5018920 – 5018934 and 5018974 – 5018991.

If these cheques are seen, please contact the Savanna-la-Mar Police at 955-2536, Police 119 emergency number or the nearest Police Station.
