KINGSTON, Jamaica - The Police High Command this morning announced that a reward totaling a million dollars is being offered for information leading to the arrest and charge of those responsible for the murder of retired Senior Superintendent of Police, Tony Hewitt.

Hewitt was shot and killed on September 16 in the parking lot of the Donmair Court apartment in Kingston 19 as he exited his vehicle.

The reward is being put up by the Jamaica Constabulary Force, The Firearm Licensing Authority and other interested parties.

Several persons have been taken into custody, interviewed and released but no arrests have been made.

Hewitt built a reputation as a meticulous investigator who rose through the ranks of the Constabulary and headed the Criminal Investigation Branch and the Flying Squad.

The announcement was made by Senior Superintendent Wilford Gayle of the Criminal Investigation Branch during a press conference at the Police Officer’s Club at Hope Road in St Andrew.
