KINGSTON, Jamaica — A section of Mona Road in St Andrew, between Wellington Drive and Karachi Avenue, will be closed to vehicular traffic on Sunday, October 8, the National Works Agency (NWA) has announced.

The closure, which will be between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, is to facilitate the installation of a culvert across the roadway, the NWA said in a release on Friday.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, said that the activity is part of the road and drainage rehabilitation programme that is currently underway along Mona Road. The project, which is part of the multibillion dollar Major Infrastructure Development Programme (MIDP), commenced in early April and is scheduled to be completed by the end of October, Shaw said.

It is being implemented at a cost of $76.4 million.

During the closure, motorists may use Old Hope Road to access their destinations along Mona Road.
