Thursday, February 08, 2018

KINGSTON, Jamaica — National Security Minister Robert Montague hosted a luncheon last Sunday at Pier 1 in Montego Bay for members of the Jamaica Constabulary and Jamaica Defence Force who have been in St James since enhanced security measures were put in place for the parish on January 18.

Montague in a release from his ministry said the luncheon was a “show of appreciation to the hardworking men and women who continue to work tirelessly to keep residents of the parish safe”.

During the luncheon, the minister used the opportunity to speak with members individually about the enhanced security operations.

The minister gave the assurance that he would do all he could within his capacity to make them more comfortable while they carried out their duties.

Montague noted that since the security measures were beefed up in the second city there have been only two murders.

He said that although any life lost is one too many, this is a significant improvement over the figure that obtained in St James prior to the implementation of the enhanced security measures.
