More water for Walkerswood
Thursday, September 13, 2012 | 5:21 PM
KINGSTON, Jamaica — More water will be trucked to areas in St Ann after angry resident protested in Walkerswood earlier today.
The National Water Commission (NWC) says it will increase the amount of water to that area from 17,500 to 20,000 gallons each day until operations at the Walkerswood Deep Well, which has been down for over two weeks, resume.
The communities to benefit are Walkerswood, Colgate and Dunnsville.
However, the NWC cautioned that regular supply would not be returned before Sunday, September 23, due to challenges getting necessary parts.
Residents blocked the Walkerswood main road earlier today, saying the water being trucked to the community was inadequate.
The roadblocks affected scores of school children and motorists travelling to and from Kingston.
