KINGSTON, Jamaica — Isolated showers are expected to continue affecting western and central parishes this afternoon, the Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica has reported.

This is due to a trough lingering across the island since the start of the week.

On Monday, the Met Service said the trough was expected to linger for another three days. However in its forecast this morning, the weather service extended that period to the weekend.

The island has been experiencing heavy rains since last week and was placed on a flash flood watch due to a tropical depression, which has since passed.

The flood watch was discontinued at the start of this week.
