NWA closes section of Dunrobin Avenue/Washington Boulevard
Sunday, November 25, 2012 | 5:28 PM
THE National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists to expect traffic delays along Dunrobin Avenue and Washington Boulevard come 10:00 am tomorrow.
A section of the southern carriageway along the Dunrobin Avenue/Washington Boulevard corridor, extending from the Lindsay Crescent (Dukharan Avenue)/Dunrobin Avenue intersection to the Cowper Drive/Washington Boulevard intersection, is being worked on.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services Stephen Shaw says the closure, which will be in effect for a period of three weeks, is necessary to facilitate additional works to three bridge structures along the corridor, and will result in the following traffic changes:-
• The southern carriageway of Dunrobin Avenue, ie roadway heading westerly toward the Molynes Road/Washington Boulevard intersection will be closed from the vicinity of the Lindsay Crescent (Dukharan Avenue)/Dunrobin Avenue intersection, to the vicinity of the Aldene Drive/Washington Boulevard intersection. Traffic will be diverted onto the northern carriageway of this corridor, which will be converted to two-way.
• The southern carriageway of Washington Boulevard (heading westerly toward Molynes Road), will be closed from the vicinity of the Savannah Avenue/Washington Boulevard intersection to the vicinity of the Cowper Drive/Washington Boulevard intersection. Traffic will also be diverted to the northern carriageway between these two intersections.
Shaw says the works to be undertaken along Dunrobin Avenue and Washington Boulevard form part of remedial activities for the Washington Boulevard/ Dunrobin Avenue Improvement Project, through contractors Surrey Paving and Aggregates Company Limited.
Normal traffic arrangements will be restored to Dunrobin Avenue and Washington Boulevard in mid December.
