NWC warns about fraudsters posing as bill collectors

THE National Water Commission (NWC) is warning customers to be on the lookout for imposters who pose as bill collectors.
The company says people have been posing as collectors to extort money from its customers.
Payments on a customer’s bill can only be made at the agency’s commercial offices or at authorised payment agencies, not to individuals on the streets, the NWC said.
Customers are being urged to exercise caution as all NWC employees and contractors have current identification cards which they have to show if asked.
Any suspicious approach by an employee or otherwise should be reported to the police or to the NWC’s Security Department at 929-5430-5 or 920-1503.
