ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC) says the water seen on the roadway in the vicinity of Ferry/Mandela Highway this morning was not from any of its pipelines in the area.

In a release this afternoon, the NWC said after receiving complaints about a presumed broken main flooding the area and affecting traffic flow along the roadway, it dispatched a work crew to investigate and commence preparatory work for effecting any required repairs.

“Investigations have since shown that the problem is not caused by any break on any of our critical transmission pipelines but instead by a blocked drain in the area,” explained the NWC.

As a result, the NWC said it has since resumed normal operations on all pipelines in Ferry.
