KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of National Security, Robert Montague told the House of Representatives this afternoon that that new Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) Board is to be revealed next week.

Montague's disclosure comes on the heels of a premature announcement on September 18 that a new board has been named.

In a subsequent statement, the minister said that the Cabinet only discussed the appointment of the board but had not finalise its decision.

The scandal-hit FLA came under intense pressure after it emerged that firearm licences were issued to people of questionable character. The board subsequently resigned and two senior managers were fired.

The granting of licences is now the subject of police investigations at the embattled agency.
