MONTEGO BAY, St James — Senior investigators assigned to the Montego Bay CIB are working assiduously to establish a lead into last night's brutal gun slaying of the operator of a popular night club along the busy Montego Bay hip strip.

The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Gary Anes of Birmingham, England, and Mango Walk, Montego Bay, St James addresses.

Reports are that last night about 11:45, Anes and two other men were playing dominoes outside the Moods night club, when a gunman walked up and fired shots hitting the night club operator.

A shootout reportedly ensued between the gunman and a policeman who was quick on the scene.

A police source, however, disclosed that the gunman made good his escape in a waiting motor vehicle.

The cop was not hurt during the shootout.

Meanwhile, Anes was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
