KINGSTON, Jamaica – Following rumours circulating on social media throughout the day, the University Hospital of the West Indies says it is confirming that no staff member or healthcare worker has tested positive for COVID-19.

The denial came in a release from the hospital's manager of public relations and communications.

The release further informed that the UHWI is working closely with the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) and continues to provide all information related to possible COVID-19 exposure to the Ministry.

“The UHWI recognizes that healthcare workers in all health facilities are at risk and we continue to operate with the highest level of care to safeguard the wellbeing of employees and the public. The UHWI, known for its high quality care and advanced services, continues to provide care for all patients referred to the institution. We value all members of staff contributing to the provision of patient care in this challenging time,” the release stated.
