1. Police constable dies in motor vehicle accident

A police constable said to be approximately 30-years-old died following a motor vehicle accident along the PJ Patterson Highway early this morning.

2. Accused in murder of Moncrieffe's Patio Shop's owner gets 30 years

Omar Graham who pleaded guilty to killing the owner of Moncrieffe's Patio Shop was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

3. Idris Elba taps own roots for director debut 'Yardie'

British actor Idris Elba said he tapped into his own roots growing up among London's West Indian community -- and his DJ experience — for his directorial debut, "Yardie", shown Thursday at the Berlin film festival.

4. Welder murdered by gunmen posing as police officers

A 39-year-old welder was shot dead by two men posing as police officers early this morning at his Bog Walk home in St Catherine.

5. 9mm pistol seized in Portmore

The police are reporting that early this morning (Thursday) they were able to seize a 9mm Taurus pistol along with a magazine containing five 9mm rounds during an operation in Hardware Lane in Portmore, St Catherine.

6. 'Racist' white powder letter sent to Meghan Markle

A letter with white powder was sent to Prince Harry and his fiancee Meghan Markle, the Evening Standard newspaper reported on Thursday, saying it was also believed to contain a racist message.

7. $8.4b allocated to boost capabilities of JDF

With the maintenance of law and order high on the agenda of the Government, a sum of $8.4 billion has been budgeted to bolster the capabilities of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF).

8. Russell reiterates commitment, available for Windies A

All-rounder Andre Russell has dismissed claims about his lack of commitment to West Indies cricket, and has again reiterated his desire to represent the Caribbean side in the limited overs format.

9. CISOCA lists 'Munchie' as person of interest

The Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) has listed a robot taxi operator, 40-year-old Michael Swaby, otherwise called 'Munchie', of Kensington Road, Kingston 2 as a person of interest.

10. EOJ having voting simulations ahead of March 5 by-elections

The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) will be conducting a voting simulation exercise for registered electors in the St Andrew North Western constituency and the Norman Gardens division on Saturday.
