1. Vere Tech teacher accused of beating athlete charged

Vere Technical High School physical education teacher Sashauna Wellington was arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She was released on bail on Tuesday.

2. Quake felt in Trelawny this morning

A minor 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck 33 kilometres north of Falmouth, Trelawny this morning. The tremor had a focal depth of 15 kilometres, reported the Earthquake Unit at the University of the West Indies, Mona.

3. Shaw urges community tourism stakeholders to embrace Airbnb

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Audley Shaw, has called for the increased integration of Airbnb operations into community tourism offerings.

4. PNP urges Gov't to set out clear plan for Clarendon sugar farmers

Member of Parliament for South West Clarendon, Noel Arscott and People's National Party (PNP) caretaker for South East Clarendon, Patricia Duncan Sutherland, are calling on the Government to be more definitive with plans for cane farmers and factory workers in Clarendon.

5. $35m spent branding, installing 'Spruce Up' garbage bins

A total of $35 million has been spent through the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) to brand and install 1000 'Spruce Up' garbage disposal bins as part of efforts to reduce littering island wide.

6. House approves new Road Traffic Bill

The House of Representatives yesterday gave full approval to the five most recent amendments to the long delayed Road Traffic Act (RTA).

7. Preparations underway to list Wigton Windfarm on stock market

The Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) has commenced preparations to list Wigton Windfarm Limited on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).

8. Women entrepreneurs awarded $250k grants

Four women entrepreneurs have been each awarded a $250,000 grant that will be used to improve the capacity of their businesses and get them on the path to formality during the course of the next fiscal year.

9. Briana Williams shortlisted by IAAF

Jamaica's International Associations of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Under 20 Championships double sprint gold medallist Briana Williams has been shortlisted for the 2018 Female Rising Star Award “to recognise this year's best U20 athlete,” it was announced on Tuesday.

10. Injured Holder to miss upcoming Bangladesh tour

Cricket West Indies this morning announced that Test and ODI Captain, Jason Holder will miss the upcoming Bangladesh tour due to a shoulder injury.
