The British Government on Monday apologised to Caribbean citizens who moved to Britain in the 1950s and 1960s and have been threatened with deportation, agreeing to meet 12 leaders of countries affected after initially turning them down.

The People's National party (PNP) is contending that Peter Bunting, former minister of national security, did not issue certificates of immunity to the three Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) members, who are on trial for the 2010 murder of Keith Clarke.

Detectives in the Savanna-la-Mar are investigating the murder of two men and the shooting injury of a man and a woman in separate incidents in Westmoreland on Saturday.

7. Kathryn Phipps appointed Jamaica's Ambassador to Cuba

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, today announced the appointment of Kathryn Phipps as Ambassador-designate to Cuba.

8. CARICOM leaders hold wide-ranging discussions with US VP

Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence, says his country remains interested in the Caribbean and Latin America.

9. T&T slip as Reggae Boyz remain top in CFU

Powerhouses Trinidad and Tobago took a pounding in the latest FIFA world rankings released last week, as St Kitts and Nevis and Haiti also lost significant ground, while Jamaica's Reggae Boyz remain the highest-ranked CFU nation at 48th.

10. School tax problems a disgrace, says PNP

The People's National Party (PNP) says it is alarmed at what it describes as the 'disgraceful misplaced priorities' of the Ministry of Education, which have led to some principals of high schools being prosecuted for non-payment of taxes as reported in the Sunday Gleaner.
